Dutch Alumni Association: Annual Gathering 2018
On Saturday the 7th of April, the Dutch Alumni Association met in a scouts hut in the Amstelveen area of Amsterdam.
The day set off with the General Members Assembly - an annual meeting where all members of the association are invited to come and participate. The meeting had an update on the year that had passed, the selection of new campers for the 2018 season, and a general discussion of what goals are set for the future.
The Louis August Jonas Foundation (LAJF) Alumni Relations Coordinator, Mads Nissen, was present at the meeting and gave an update on alumni relations at LAJF. Board Member, and Dutch Alumna, Paula Souverijn-Eisenberg spoke on fundraising efforts at LAJF, and finishing year one of the five-year strategic plan.
After the General Members Assembly, the Dutch alumni enjoyed a delicious potluck-style lunch outside in the sun, in the idyllic settings by a small pond behind the Scouts hut. After lunch, activities continued with socializing and fun games. Games, including Kubb, 30-seconds, a prisoner’s dilemma game called Red and Blue, and rounds upon rounds of Werewolf - a card game many CRS alumni may know better by the name Mafia - were played.
The night ended around a bonfire in the best of Camp Rising Sun (CRS) spirit, with camp-songs, s’mores and shared memories from summers at CRS.
