Why did you want to attend Camp Rising Sun?
As a person who has an undeniable love for debates and public speaking, I knew that the camp would be such a useful experience to see someone else's point of view, especially that of so many people from all around the world. I am sure that it will improve me not only as a person, but also as a leader and debater.
What are you most looking forward to this summer?
As a foreign language student, I believe that this opportunity will prove to me not only an unforgettable experience, but also the chance to practice my language skills. During the camp I hope to fully immerse myself in different cultures with many diverse views, because it will teach me to understand my own perspectives better and will provide me the tools I need to become a better citizen of the world.
I personally understand “compassionate leadership” as the ability to understand what others are going through and not to judge them too harshly, rather seeing them as a part of yourself and relating to what they are experiencing at a much deeper level. But also being too compassionate can be risky and the best you can do is to focus more on what’s best for the individual.
