Over the past year the CRS College Student Network has worked tirelessly to connect young alumni to more experienced alumni mentors with the aim of providing knowledge and insight into the college application process.
In recent months, CSN has hosted a number of virtual workshops, including “Design Your Ideal College,” led by Ben Chen of Minerva University. In this workshop, students utilized the design-thinking process to critically and creatively assess what they wanted the next step in their educational journey to look like. At the end of the session, participants left with a list of characteristics of their ideal college experience that they could then refer back to while making important decisions in their application process.
"When you do internet research on universities, you learn about their characteristics, but no one advises you if those aspects are a suitable match for you. I was given tools to determine if any particular college has an atmosphere in which I will thrive thanks to the Design Your Ideal College workshop. The workshop assisted me in making a list of my priorities and goals so that I would know what to look for in a place that will not only help me prepare for the rest of my life but also allow me to enjoy my youth."

CSN hopes to expand its reach in the upcoming application cycle to give recent cohorts of CRS and VCRS the opportunity to receive guidance from the invaluable resource that is their expansive, fellow alumni network.
