Below is the March message from our LAJF Executive director, Helene Mattera:
Dear Friends,
It's that time of the year — we are in the midst of preparing for the summer camp season! Acceptance letters have been mailed to the Summer 2022 cohort of campers, who can now begin their own preparations for a summer that will undoubtedly be life-changing.
This month, we hosted our annual Winter Camp Day event where we enjoyed making fresh maple syrup with alumni, friends, and neighbors! It was a reminder of the strong ties made at Camp Rising Sun — seeing all of the CRS alumni who traveled from near and far to be there and reconnect. It was also a great way to bring together members of our local community and elected officials who are committed to supporting our mission.
Another reminder of the importance of the strength of ties within our community has come through the difficult news about the invasion of Ukraine. This event reminds us of the purpose of Camp Rising Sun: that we exist in the hopes of infusing the world with more compassion and leadership that seeks to connect, not divide. Please take a moment to read the statement from the CRS Alumni Association of Poland (featured below) and consider contributing to the organizations they have provided that will offer direct help to Ukrainians in need.
Let us continue to find ways to come together in peace and create a better world for all.
In gratitude,
Helene Mattera
LAJF Executive Director
